About the event
Our last night. One more chance to gather under the KESKfEST Festival Tent, find your friends, and head to the dance floor together.
Join us for Lõpupidu, the "Closing Party" of KESKfEST, featuring a live performance from Atomic Heeringas. A rollickin’ night of rock n roll classics, drawn mainly from the 1970s and 1980s! It is the ultimate showcase of cross-border connection; proving that no matter how far our community members fly, the music and the spirit of home always bring us right back to our roots.
Grab a drink, hit the dance floor, and help us celebrate the homestretch of KESKUS with a band that defines the global Estonian sound!
Meet the Band!
Hillar Tork — bass guitar and vocals
Aarne Tork — guitar and vocals
Howard Helm — keyboards and vocals
Kathy Helm — vocals
Denton Young — drums and vocals
(and surprise Estonian musicians! 😊)
Atomic Heeringas brings together musicians with deep roots in both Toronto’s rock scene and the global Estonian community. Hillar Tork has continued making music wherever life has taken him, performing in bands across several countries, including Brussels based Le Brünk, who you can catch at Thursday's Salakõrts (Tickets here). He is joined by his brother Aarne Tork, mainstay performer at Estonian events on the West Coast, including Lääneranniku Eesti Päevad and more! Atomic Heeringas also features Hillar’s long time friend and accomplished rock keyboardist Howard Helm, vocalist Kathy Helm and drummer/vocalist Denton Young. Howard and Denton also share a connection through the Canadian Juno-nominated rock band Zon, where Howard played keyboards and Denton served as frontman.
The band name translates to "Atomic Herring"—a tongue-in-cheek play on the silver Baltic fish that is an absolute staple of the Estonian diet.
Whether you have spent the entire festival reconnecting with old friends, meeting Estonians from around the world or discovering something completely new, Lõpupidu is a chance to close out KESKfEST with a bang! Grab a drink, take in the music and celebrate everything the KESKfEST weekend has brought to life.
P.S. Keep the Lõpupidu energy going at Salakõrts afterwards (Tickets here!)
