Update #258

The KESKUS newsletter, published by Estonian Arts Centre (EAC), is the first Estonian-related online publication in North America to be issued an ISSN number, a meaningful milestone in KESKUS' mission to amplify the diaspora Estonian voice.
The International Standard Serial Number (ISSN) is a globally recognized identifier for serial publications such as magazines, journals, and newsletters. Estonian related periodicals such as "Eesti Elu" in Canada and "Vaba Eesti Sõna" in the US both have an ISSN for print publications. The KESKUS newsletter is the first Estonian-related online publication on the continent to receive an ISSN.
The ISSN number ensures that the KESKUS newsletter is a publication that is catalogued and searchable in libraries, databases, and archives around the world. More than just a number, it validates the professionalism, consistency, and cultural significance of the KESKUS monthly newsletter.
Part of this recognition is financial support for the KESKUS newsletter, by Estonia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs through Integration Foundation, - thank you for this support!
All of this recognition and support is especially meaningful as KESKUS continues to build a strong cultural network among diaspora Estonians. The ISSN will help preserve our stories for future generations, enable academic citation, and increase accessibility for readers and researchers worldwide to diaspora news.

The KESKUS newsletter is in its 7th year of publcation and readership increased exponentially since the start of construction of the KESKUS building in April 2022, now with thousands of subscribers from around the world. For those who find marketing metrics of interest, the open rate of the newsletter is consistently over 75% and the click rate over 25%.
EAC has a robust charitable program that includes media, literary, performing and textile arts, among others. With the newsletter as part of its literary arts program, there is always something to look forward to when opening the KESKUS newsletter each month.
The KESKUS newsletter is a key resource for keeping abreast of Estonians' 'Project of the Century' so dubbed by Estonia's Ambassador to Sweden, Toomas Lukk, but moreover, as a key source for keeping abreast of diaspora activities, education and training opportunities.
You can sign up here for the newsletter as we soon start the countdown clock to KESKUS opening. With this step of securing an ISSN number, KESKUS is not just making history — it's ensuring that this history is recorded, archived, referenced, and remembered.
