Update #283

Look at how far we have come! And this August, Toronto becomes the global Estonian diaspora's dynamic, city-wide cultural campus for celebration of our unstoppable culture and spirit.

From August 20– 23, 2026, KESKfEST will bring celebrants from around the world to enjoy Estonian culture and achievements.  The festival will offer a range of activities for all -  including our own song/dance festivities (Valguspidu),  marquee performances, cultural events, global estonian youth congress and special evenings of celebration.

Events & Planning Tools

A wealth of detail will be shared over the coming weeks to help you plan your festival experience, on Estonian Arts Centre’s website.

  • Master Schedule & Maps: Real-time program details, venue configurations, and location-specific transit advice are being finalized on our website to help you navigate our city-wide campus.

  • Ticket Registration: Ticket sales and event registration details will launch on our site soon. Please note that many events will require advance registration to respect venue safety and capacity limits.

  • Accommodations: For our family and friends making the journey to Toronto from around the world, partner booking codes for local neighbourhood options—Tartu College, the Kimpton Saint George, and the Royal Sonesta are up on the website.

KESKfEST Headquarters

We are officially in the final homestretch—our veidi veel—of having a permanent global landmark, a true home for generations to come in the heart of Toronto. KESKfEST will be held in a way that best introduces and facilitates this immense collective achievement.

All teams and construction crews are working flat out, putting their hearts into getting our permanent home finished as fast as they can. It is a hive of activity.  While the building may be done in time and make our contingency plans moot, full occupancy permits for August are not looking likely. Remobilization is extremely costly, and crews need uninterrupted space to triumphantly cross that finish line.

Because of this, broader interior access will be limited for events during KESKfEST. But that is exactly what this festival is about: celebrating our arts, our culture, and community's incredible accomplishments!

Our festival homebase: the KESKfEST Festival Tent

Right across the street from the KESKUS site, the KESKfEST Festival Tent will act as our central "homebase"—a welcoming space where we will gather, along with neighbour Tartu College and our partner venues across Toronto.

The KESKfEST Festival Tent is a massive, air-conditioned, and fully accessible space with step-free access and flexible seating, it will host everything from our high-level conferences and diplomatic lunches to our youth congress and evening celebrations. No matter what the weather brings, our backup indoor locations mean the festival energy and community warmth will keep going uninterrupted.

Estonian culture permeates the city

This August, our culture takes over the entire city, turning Toronto into a vibrant campus of contemporary art, world-class performances, and deep intergenerational connections across multiple venues.  Partner venues will be joined in the celebrations, as KESKUS is welcomed into the multicultural fabric of the city.

We are building something monumental together, and we cannot wait to share this final stretch of the journey with our community and this city.

A front-row seat: scheduled KESKUS site tours

Even as we celebrate across the city, the architectural showcase that is KESKUS remains the anchor of our pride. You will absolutely be able to take in the KESKUS construction progress firsthand.

Scheduled tours—both inside and out—throughout KESKfEST will showcase the physical reflection of our culture, our collective effort and see our shared dream taking shape at this home stretch. To ensure everyone's safety on this active construction site, registration, sturdy shoes are required, hard hats will be provided.

Note from the heart / südamlik tänu

Whether you are packing your bags to cross oceans, or simply biking a few blocks down the street right here in Toronto, this moment belongs to all of us.

KESKUS is being built by the collective will of a steadfast global community.  We are grateful for the  dedication,  patience, and  support across our local and international community, as KESKUS approaches the finish line.

Oleme peagi pärale jõudmas—veidi veel! We are almost there—just a little bit more!

The excitement for this August is palpable - One festival. Multiple venues. Our shared cultural future.
