Construction update September 2025

Update / Teade # 259

KESKUS courtyard reveals map of Estonia

The map of Estonia is now visible from above as its outline emerged to form the KESKUS courtyard! The safety rails are installed on all floors, the Nelson studs are welded into place and the metal decks are getting the last of the rebar installed and ready for concrete. Concrete for the second floor balcony and green roof areas were poured in August, and the remaining floor areas will receive concrete in September. /// Eesti kaart on nüüd ülalt vaadates nähtav, kuna selle kontuur on kujunenud KESKUS-e sisehooviks! Ohutuspiirded on paigaldatud kõigile korrustele, Nelsoni poldid on oma kohtadesse keevitatud ning metallpõrandatele paigaldatakse viimaseid armatuure, et need oleksid valmis betoneerimiseks. Teise korruse rõdu ja haljasala betoonivalu tehti augustis ning ülejäänud korruste pinnad saavad betooni septembris.

Greenery can be enjoyed from every level of KESKUS, here are some of the outdoor spaces on the 2nd floor that have already been poured.

Restoration of the heritage wing exterior of KESKUS is nearly complete, with the windows to be restored later in the construction process. Waterproofing of the subway tunnels is now completed and this work is now independent of schedule. The tunnels are now being backfilled with gravel and the work associated with the tunnels will then be behind us. /// Muinsuskaitse all oleva maja välisfassaadi taastamine on peaaegu valmis, akende taastamine toimub hilisemas ehitusetapis. Maa-aluste tunnelite hüdroisolatsioon on nüüdseks lõpetatud ning see töö on nüüd ajakavast sõltumatu. Tunneleid ümbritsev pind, täidetakse kruusaga ja ühistranspordi agentuuriga seotud tööd saavad peagi minevikku jääda.

Inside, work continues in the basement area behind the heritage house with electrical and mechanical system installations. Electrical and mechanical work is now ongoing in the floors aboveground as well with rough-ins going in to serve higher floors. /// Siseruumides jätkuvad tööd taga asuvas keldrikorrusel, kus paigaldatakse elektri- ja mehaanikasüsteeme. Elektri- ja mehaanikatööd käivad nüüd ka maapealsetel korrustel, kus tehakse eeltöid kõrgemate korruste teenindamiseks.

KESKUS International Estonian Centre in downtown Toronto will be a dynamic hub showcasing our rich heritage and promoting Estonian innovation.
