Construction update August 2025

Update / Teade # 254

KESKUS upper floors readying for concrete

Since the last construction update in June, construction of KESKUS continues to progress with increasing speed. The metal decks are installed on the main part of the new building and the north and south galleries will follow close behind. These decks will support the concrete poured for the upper floors. The individual welding of over 2000 Nelson studs is almost complete to be ready for the concrete pour that is scheduled for August. /// Viimasest teatest juunikuus, KESKUSe ehitus on edenenud üha kiireneva tempoga. Uue hoone põhiosale on paigaldatud metallpõrandad ning põhja- ja lõunagaleriid järgnevad sellele. Metall põrandad on aluseks ülemiste korruste jaoks valatud betoonile. Üle 2000 Nelsoni naastu individuaalne keevitamine on lõpusirgel, et olla valmis augustis kavandatud betoonivalamiseks.

The construction staircase is installed and once the safety railing installation is completed it will provide access for trades to work safely on these upper floors. The views from the top are something to behold - the height from the rooftop garden allows the eye to graze over the tops of the Annex tree canopy and the view includes that of CN tower to the south, and plenty of sun to the west. /// Ehitustrepp on paigaldatud ja kui turvapiirded on paigas võimaldab see töötajatel ülemistel korrustel ohutult töötada. Vaated ülevalt on lummavad – katuseterassi kõrgus võimaldab pilgul üle käia Annexi puude latvade ning vaade hõlmab lõunas asuvat CN torni ja läänest paistab palju päikest objektile.

Restoration of the heritage wing of KESKUS is nearly complete. Of particular note is the care and detail that has been given to the front facade to match the mortar and brick to maintain fidelity to the West Annex Heritage Conservation Plan. The heritage wing windows will be restored later in the construction process. For the house envelope connections to the new build, the openings at the back of the house for the bridges in the first and second floors are cut, and the final step for the connections will be to cut into the roof to connect the library space to the third floor learning complex where the classrooms and study lounge will be located. ///KESKUSi muinsuskaitsealuse tiiva restaureerimine on peaaegu valmis. Eriti tähelepanuväärne on esifassaadi hoolikas ja detailne konserveerimine, mis vastab mördi ja telliste värvile ning on kooskõlas "West Annex" muinsuskaitse kavaga. Muinsuskaitsealuse hoone aknad restaureeritakse ehitusprotsessi hilisemas etapis. Maja ühenduste loomiseks uue hoonega lõigatakse maja tagaosas olevad avad esimese ja teise korruse sildade jaoks ning ühenduste viimaseks etapiks on katusesse ava lõikamine, mis ühendab raamatukogu kolmanda korruse õppealaga, kus asuvad klassi- ja muusikaruumid..

TTC has completed its remediation work. Waterproofing should be completed this month under grade beams. This work is independent of the work being done above grade. /// TTC on tunnelite parandustöödega lõpetanud. Hüdroisolatsioon peaks sel kuul valmima talade all. See töö graafik ei sõltu teistest tehtavatest töödest.
