About the event
We warmly invite you to a creative, hands-on workshop with renowned sustainable fashion designers Reet Aus and Eva-Karlotta Tatar. Together, we transform old jeans - teksased - into your very own tote bag with a leather handle, while exploring the importance of upcycling and the pressing issue of textile waste in today’s fashion industry.

Please bring a few pairs of your denim jeans from the back of the drawer that are just not getting the love, and give them new purpose in life. If you have them, please bring fabric shears and a seam ripper. All other materials and guidance will be provided. Prior experience with sewing machines recommended, but not mandatory! Minors to be registered with adult.

ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTORS
Reet Aus is a PhD-qualified fashion designer and environmental activist, a natural rebel who founded REET AUS COLLECTION®. She is a pioneer in the field of industrial upcycling for fashion, and has developed the UPMADE® certification, in order to pass on her knowledge to brands and factories.
Reet’s guiding mission in life is to save the fashion industry from itself, and to show that there is a way of ending the throwaway culture that causes so much waste and destruction around the world. Reet is reducing the environmental footprint of the industry she loves.
Eva-Karlotta Tatar is the founder of KARLOTTA, a brand focused on sustainable leather accessories. With over 10 years of experience in both the US and European markets, she specializes in designing and creating custom luxury leather products. Eva-Karlotta prioritizes sourcing sustainable materials and managing the entire production process, always exploring new ways to design and produce sustainably.
She has worked at a luxury brand in New York and launched a sustainable regenerative handbag collection, Farm to Arm, which was showcased at New York Fashion Week. Her newest collection focuses on upcycling leather, with the goal of reusing materials and redesigning them into new pieces. Eva-Karlotta holds a master’s degree in Accessory Design from Kolding Design School in Denmark.

Please bring a seam ripper, a good pair of fabric shears/scissors, and worn-out jeans to create your denim bag. All other materials and guidance will be provided.
