Construction update for end of 2023

Updated: Dec 20, 2023

Update / Teade No. 200

Taking a look back to the construction progress over 2023, the year started with completion of the deep foundation work of caissons, micropiles and shoring. Now these are all buried as the structure rises back up from the depths of the excavation that followed. /// Vaadates tagasi 2023. aasta ehituse kulgemisele, algas aasta kessonite, mikrovaiade ja toetusaluse süvavundamenditööde lõpetamisega. Nüüd on need kõik järgmiste kihtide all ja struktuur tõuseb sügavustest üles.

In the below video, the vertical construction is the star of the show: the elevator shaft, basement walls and columns are formed and poured. In the case of the walls, the pouring is done by shotcrete, a process of spraying concrete through a pneumatic gun. That is then hand smoothed with trowels and left to cure. /// Videos tähelepanu pälvib vertikaalne konstruktsioon: vormitakse ja valatakse liftišahti, keldriseinu ja sambaid. Seinte puhul valatakse torkbetooniga, mis on betooni pihustamise protsess läbi pneumaatilise vooliku. Seejärel silutakse betoon käsitsi kelludega ja jäetakse tahenema.

Chemical additives in the concrete used in this cold weather cause an exothermic reaction that keeps the concrete from freezing before it cures. /// Selle külma ilmaga kasutatavad betooni keemilised lisandid põhjustavad eksotermilise reaktsiooni, mis ei lase betoonil enne kõvenemist külmuda.

Looking ahead, the ground floor slab over the basement portion will be poured. This will be done overhead before the final basement floating slab is installed over the sandwiched vibration isolation material . /// Tulevikku vaadates valatakse üle keldriosa tänavakorruse korruse plaat. Seda tehakse pea kohal enne, kui lõplik keldri ujuvplaat paigaldatakse vibratsiooniisolatsioonimaterjali peale.

Sincere thanks goes to the Government of Canada through FedDev Ontario for its support of courtyard construction, read more about this generous support here. /// Siiras tänu Kanada valitsusele FedDev Ontario kaudu praeguste ehitustööde toetamise eest.
